Summer Doesn't Slow Hunger: Thanks to Anderson Children's Foundation, More Children Will Receive Fresh Produce

Summer break may mean classrooms are empty, but the need for nutritious food doesn't disappear.

For many children throughout the Coachella Valley, summer programs at organizations like the YMCA and Boys & Girls Clubs provide more than a safe place to learn and play. They also provide reliable access to healthy food during a time when school meals are unavailable.

Thanks to a generous grant from the Anderson Children's Foundation, Hidden Harvest is immediately expanding its support for these programs by doubling the amount of fresh produce distributed to participating youth organizations.

This investment comes at exactly the right time. As summer temperatures rise and children spend their days at camps and enrichment programs, access to fresh fruits and vegetables becomes even more important. Good nutrition supports growing bodies, fuels active minds, and helps establish healthy eating habits that can last a lifetime.

Unlike many hunger relief programs that focus primarily on shelf-stable foods, Hidden Harvest specializes in providing fresh, nutritious fruits and vegetables. Every delivery helps ensure children have access to foods that are rich in essential vitamins, minerals, and fiber—foods that many families struggling with food insecurity often find the hardest to afford.

By increasing these deliveries, more children attending local summer programs will enjoy fresh produce as part of their meals and snacks, helping them stay healthy, energized, and ready to learn, play, and grow.

We are deeply grateful to the Anderson Children's Foundation for recognizing the importance of investing in children's health through nutrition. Their support will have an immediate impact on hundreds of young lives throughout our community this summer.

Because summer doesn't slow hunger, and every child deserves access to fresh, healthy food.
