Meeting a Growing Need: 100,508 Pounds Distributed in May

More Than 100,000 Pounds of Fresh Produce Distributed in May

Hidden Harvest distributed 100,508 pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables throughout the Coachella Valley during the month of May, helping ensure nutritious food reached low-income seniors, children, families, and individuals experiencing food insecurity.

The produce was distributed through Hidden Harvest's Senior Markets and Community Partner Program. Seniors received fresh produce directly through Senior Markets held throughout the valley, while children, families, and other individuals in need were served through trusted community partners that work directly with local residents every day.

Every pound distributed represents fresh produce that was either rescued or sourced through Hidden Harvest's Small Farmers Program. By recovering surplus produce and supporting local farmers, Hidden Harvest is able to provide healthy fruits and vegetables completely free of charge to neighbors in need.

The growing demand for fresh produce continues to be evident throughout the Coachella Valley. Hidden Harvest's Senior Markets regularly serve hundreds of seniors each month, while community partners help extend the organization's reach to children, families, and individuals facing food insecurity across the region.

This impact would not be possible without the support of local farmers, produce donors, volunteers, grantors, community partners, and financial supporters who make this work possible. Together, they help ensure fresh, nutritious food reaches those who need it most while reducing food waste and strengthening our local food system.

As Hidden Harvest moves into the summer season, the organization remains committed to rescuing surplus produce, supporting local agriculture, and providing free, fresh produce to our neighbors in need throughout the Coachella Valley.

100,508 pounds in a single month is more than a number—it represents thousands of meals, healthier choices for families and seniors, and a community coming together to ensure no good food goes to waste.
